The good old bnct.ch times…

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Lately, I’ve been thinking about the 7 years I (co-)mastered the bnct.ch website! It was a fruitful time, when not everyone had a myspace or facebook account and people were interested in getting local infos on one website. We didn’t “journalize” on Biel/Bienne, but still we tried to give a different approach to local musicians, artists and nightlife.

Many people used the website without leaving imprints and didn’t even bother to say they were missing it when it disappeared. Others wanted us to go on with it and told us so many times. I happen to get mails even today, mostly because the bnct.ch eMail address still persists in those people’s distribution lists. Never mind, I don’t even declare you as SPAM.

A wide selction of MP3 files of local music bands and artists was offered on the site (for free) and I recently found a backup of all those songs. I found myself lost in the listening for at least 3 hours.

Well, what’s the purpose of this post you’ll ask me… Or even if you don’t, I’ll give you the answer. Some motivated guys witnessed their will to get on with bnct.ch, especially the agenda part of it. I’ll keep you updated on this issue.

Party Weekend with mixed feelings

Monday, January 12th, 2009

So there it was, on Friday January 9th at the Coupole in Biel. The DopePose Possee (http://www.dopepose.com) invited to an OldSchoolish event promoting the purpose of its existance and I was hired as the presenter. About half a dozen of DJ’s tag teamed for 30-minute-sets ranging from Boom Rap to Forgotten Treasures. About half the audience was younger than most of the tracks played and the other half was formed by more or less well-known B-Girls and B-Boys that gave in to their will to dance and nostalgic Rap addicts wanting to reminiss about the good old times. The legendary LSD Crew from Germany (Pioneers of HipHop in Germany, namely MC’s KoLute & Future Rock and DJ’s Defcon and Rick SKi) performed their 1991 Album “Watch Out for the Third Rail” and gave the mostly young crowd a historical lesson in where it all started and how it was non-materialistic and non-violent.. then! It went good by the time some individuals threw lighters on stage and finally when the concert ended an empty glass bottle that shattered against the DJ’s podium and could well have hit someone, but fortunately it didn’t.
Nevertheless the party had to go on and the motherf–ker wasn’t found. Still the problem of having massive glass bottles in a club given to (too) young people that tend to drink (smoke etc,) too much must be kept on the table and solved soon! Before someone incurs reallyhard injuries!

Still I give a great shoutout to Rosy One and her team for this cultural party and hope to see such an event at least once a year come to Bienne City.

PS: Don’t take yourself too serious people.. the world isn’t yours alone! Start posing!

The MC Igee Network Blog is ON!

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

The MC Igee Network Blog (MIN Blog) is taking one of BNCT’s first artist websites (since 1999) to another level. The Web 2.0 level! I will try to let you get into some unexpected infos linked with my little network of artists, friends, work and activities.

For now I will keep it to this, as I have to work on a nicer theme to use…
